Hi all,
A member of our IBPOC Network originally asked us to share an anonymous
question on their behalf to our IBPOC Network listserv. We are now also
sharing it here on the general BCMA listserv.
If you have answers or any useful advice for them, you can either "reply
all" to this email to create a chain visible by everyone, or directly reply
to me and I will forward the responses to them.
Thank you to everyone who has responded thus far and/or provided advice!

*Question: What do interest and merit-based raises look like at other
organizations? And have you had any experience advocating for better
compensation?*
1) For leadership:
- What do you offer in terms of compensation?
- Do you have inflation-based pay increases? Why or why not?
- Do you have merit-based pay increases? Why or why not?
- If you have merit-based pay increases, what assessment tools do you
use?
- Do you have a process for when an employee asks for a raise or
different compensation?
2) For staff:
- Does your organization offer inflation or merit-based compensation
increases?
- Is this compensation change process transparent to you?
- Have you ever had to negotiate for better or different compensation?
Why did you want different compensation?
- How did the process go and how were you received?
- If you were unsuccessful in your negotiations, what feedback did you
receive? What did you do as a result?
