Hello, I'm a new member and this is my first submission. I hope I've done
it correctly.
Hello, my name is Bruce Coughlan and I am a British Columbia-based
balladeer.
“Stirring Up Ghosts” is an initiative I began back in 1997 in an effort to
preserve a measure of Pacific Canadian history, heritage and culture in
story & song. My band, Tiller's Folly and I have recorded and performed
these songs throughout North America and the UK, sharing these unique tales
in Bardic fashion, which is a timeless part of our Celtic Heritage.
I have been busy these past few months compiling 27 years of historic
content (and all the related media) into the newest chapter in the
“Stirring Up Ghosts” initiative: The Stirring Up Ghosts website (
https://stirringupghosts.ca/) which presently contains over two dozen
songs and stories of Pacific Canada.
I am currently reaching out to BC curators, historians & historic authors
who may have content of their own to contribute, whether it’s an image and
description of a related museum artifact or heritage site, an insight into
the story by an author or historian, links to online media or what-have-you.
Please take a little time to look through the site and share any content
you may have.
Thank-you for your kind support!

“Even as a child, I remember being transported by song. A good song can
paint pictures in our minds, but what’s more, a good song can often connect
us with our own humanity and feelings. I strive to create music that does
that.
I endeavor always to create music which is authentic. Whether I’m singing
Traditional ballads or original Rhythm & Blues, I approach each song with
sincerity. I always seek to acquire a oneness with each tune. To immerse
myself and draw you in with me.”
