[BCMA] Filming Guidelines for Historic Properties

Hi Kristen,

We have professional shoots once or twice a year here at MOV, however they almost exclusively shoot in our publicly accessible areas, like the building's exterior, lobby, and rental venues. Only our standard rules/restrictions and safety procedures are required for filming in these spaces.

When it comes to filming in our galleries or filming objects, things are a bit different. I have attached MOV's general guidelines for this, as well as COV's general filming guidelines (though these aren't always applicable).

I will say, if it gives you any peace of mind, most professional film shoots take their reputation when on location very seriously. Any production that has filmed at MOV on my watch has been nothing but respectful, accommodating and has left the place better than they found it.

We’re in discussions about having a movie filmed on our historic site (sawmill site with housing).  Does anyone have filming guidelines they’re willing to share, or suggested resources?



I’m thinking about restrictions or any other matters that should be discussed with the film company, particularly with regards to the protection of the historic resource.
