Hello Kira,
The Port Hardy Museum & Archives recently purchased the following AED
<https://aedadvantage.ca/products/philips-heartstart-onsite-aed?variant=42575827108011&utm_campaign=pmax_consolidated&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=&tw_source=google&tw_adid=&tw_campaign=23209882460&tw_kwdid=&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=23214013144&gbraid=0AAAAADt5vnfYOIunzPC4QD1WTsIeku_n7&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuKvBxr22kwMVLTetBh3Z9ikbEAAYASAAEgL8vvD_BwE>.
We
did quite a bit of research and found that this one had all the functions
we needed for a reasonable price point for non-profits. You do have to
replace the pads more frequently than other models.
We installed ours by our back door, an easily accessible area for staff to
access in an emergency, and it is adjacent to our outside picnic/playground
area. We recently had three out of our five staff members certified in
basic First Aid, so there will always be a staff member on site who is
trained to use the AED. We have also placed an easily accessible first-aid
kit beside the AED, with one-way masks, nasal naloxone, an EPIPen, and
extra gloves.
Kindly,
Robin Folvik
Executive Director & Curator

*The Port Hardy Museum is located on the unceded homelands of the Kwakiutl
First Nation in Gwa’dzi (Hardy Bay), a place of longstanding gathering and
exchange for many coastal nations. We honour the Kwakiutl as caretakers of
these lands and waters and are committed to elevating Indigenous voices,
knowledge, and perspectives.*
