[BCMA] Call for Museum Collections & Archives Volunteers

Are you detail-oriented and interested in museum collections or archival work? POMO Museum is seeking volunteers to assist with our ongoing collections database migration - from Microsoft Access to PastPerfect Web Edition.

This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in museum collections management and digital archiving while contributing to the preservation of local history!

We're looking for volunteers to help with:

  *   Digital cleanup of collection records
  *   Location audits and inventory updates
  *   Accession number and lexicon corrections
  *   Uploading and updating object and archival photos
  *   Taking photos of artifacts.
  *   Updating records in our archival fonds and heritage newspaper collections
  *   Preparation of object labels and assistance with exhibit installation

Ideal skills & experience:

  *   Familiarity with collection management systems such as Access, PastPerfect, CollectiveAccess, or similar
  *   Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  *   Interest in museums, archives, or local history

Perks:

  *   Hands-on training in collections management
  *   Experience using a professional museum database
  *   Opportunities to work directly with artifacts, archives, and exhibit preparation
  *   Flexible schedule
