Hello Lorenda. I met you a few years ago at a CMA conference in Victoria, at the Victoria Art Galley. I am interested to know how accessibility is being incorporated into your EDI&A in Museums. If you would like any assistance in this area, I am very pleased to help.
Many thanks for your consideration.
Regards,
Barbara Myers

CMA: Call for Institutional Participants: Case Studies for EDI&A in Museums
We invite your museum to take part in our virtual case studies for the CMA’s multi-year project on equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility, the EDI&A Guidance Strategy.
Building on the Workplace Diversity Survey, the Literature Review, and the focus-group interviews on EDI&A in Canadian museums, the case studies would be the fourth phase of this Strategy project. Your museum’s participation in those case studies will help shape practical, sector-specific EDI&A guidance, showcase your work, and contribute to sector-wide transformation.
Participating organizations should be willing to speak openly about both their successes and the challenges they face. We are especially interested in institutions engaged in one or more of our priority areas, including:
Governance transformation:
Diversified boards, transparent nomination processes, or power-sharing models that centre community representation.
Economic justice and career accessibility:
Addressing barriers like poverty wages or unpaid internships and exploring alternative funding models that support fair compensation.
Strategic coherence and integration:
Embedding EDI&A across all operations with strong institutional frameworks and accountability systems rather than relying on ad-hoc initiatives.
Authority redistribution and shared decision-making:
Meaningful involvement of community members in formal decision-making roles, co-created exhibitions, or other measurable forms of power sharing.
Resource equity and institutional support:
Advancing EDI&A work despite resource limitations or developing scalable approaches adaptable to different institutional contexts.
Case studies will take place between February and March 2026.
By participating, your museum will help shape practical, sector-specific EDI&A guidance, highlight your institution’s innovative work, and contribute to meaningful sector-wide change.
To ensure participation, please contact advocacy at museums.ca<mailto:advocacy at museums.ca> no later than Thursday, January 22, 2026 with your expression of interest.
