Good morning,

I am from the Bralorne Pioneer Museum, and we do have camera’s facing towards the front door as well as camera facing the back door. We do have signs visible to the public on our doors and windows that say SECURITY NOTICE This building is under 24 hours video Surveillance. There has never been an incident in this building since installed.

In saying this I will forward a copy of your concerns to the division who looks after the cameras, should you need more information.

Regards,

Bralorne Pioneer Museum

Subject: [BCMA] seeking information on process for security cameras

Hi colleagues,

Our museum suffered a break-in this morning - thankfully no significant losses or damage. But my board's first question has of course been about installing a camera in the museum space. For context we are one tenant in a larger community arts/culture building that is administered by a non-profit organization. We would be installing the camera in our space only.

We're a small organization with two staff, without a lot of time to deep dive into this, so I am hoping that someone has been down this road before and could share information on the privacy rules around cameras in a public space. Have you had any successful recompense from having cameras in your space when there has been an incident - have the police been able to make use of it footage?

Thanks in advance!

Kira
