The dynamic exhibition "*Apples *& Traintracks*" shares the unknown history
of the Road Allowance Métis in Saskatchewan, their dispossession,
resiliency, and the forcible removal of their communities. It is an
interactive exhibit that is a testimony of the Indigenous
peoples' resiliency and tenacity, exemplifying their cultural perseverance.
While this story is from Saskatchewan, the experiences of the Métis Nation
stretch from the prairies to the Pacific and has national relevance.

*EXHIBITION CONTENT AND THEMES:*
Arnolda Dufour Bowes is a multi-disciplinary artist, award-winning Métis
author, an emerging filmmaker, a playwright with Gordon Tootoosis Nīkānīwin
Theatre and has had her first successful sensory art exhibit – APPLES &
TRAINTRACKS -- at Wanuskewin in Saskatoon, SK, May-July 2024. "Apples &
Traintracks" is a personal passion project dedicated to the Road Allowance
Métis, specifically those from the Punnichy and Lestock areas, where the
artist's family is from.

The Road Allowance Métis are often overlooked and misunderstood, and their
history is misrepresented. Arnolda's goal with this exhibit is to share
art, story, and history. In particular, when the Sask provincial government
forcibly removed Road Allowance families from the south using cattle cars
to the far northern community of Green Lake in the 1940s. And as the trains
passed by their Road Allowance communities, their homes were set on fire.
She also included essential cultural elements in the different art pieces,
such as beading and Red Willow Weaving, taught to her by *Knowledge Keeper
Lyndon Linklater*, and Rag Rug techniques passed on by *Elder Georgina
Martin* of the Roseau River Anishinaabe First Nation, Manitoba.

*EXHIBITION SIZE, COST, AND AVAILABILITY*
This exhibit was displayed in a gallery that was 560sq ft in size, but it
can be downsized to accommodate specific galleries without losing its
intention or integrity. Please note that a projector and sound system are
needed as a short narration film plays on a loop.

Arnolda received a Saskatchewan Arts Grant, which covers this exhibit for
travelling out of province. It is currently booked in Saskatchewan,
Alberta, and BC, and she is looking for more locations for the exhibit in
2025 and hopes to hear from you soon. The artist has funding for travel,
installation, and de-installation; the exhibit rental is aligned with
CARFAC Solo Category I Royalty of $2105 for a 2-month rental, but the
artist is open to negotiations. Interested institutions would also be
responsible for any shipping costs open to negotiations as well.
