The London Heritage Farm Society is seeking individuals interested in
volunteering to serve on the Board of Directors. The Society, in
cooperation with the CIty of RIchmond, oversees this RIchmond Heritage
Farm. The Mandate is:
To preserve, appreciate and celebrate the agricultural history of Richmond
and the ongoing operations of London Heritage Farm.
The Mission is:
London Heritage Farm Society, in cooperation with and support of the City
of Richmond, will participate in the preservation of historic interest
relating to the London family and the agricultural and farm life in the
region. Further, to work with other community groups to heighten
awareness and involvement of Heritage sites for the betterment of
residents, visitors and future generations.

This is a non-profit Society with approximately 80 members, many of whom
have plots in the site's allotment gardens. The London farm includes,
among other things, a historical house, a large perennial garden, bee
hives, a duck pond, a chicken coop, and a variety of fruit trees, some of
which are very old. To encourage the community to visit the site there are
two successful major events held yearly, which are supported by paid staff:
Mother's Day Weekend Plant Sale; and August's Family Farm Day.

Responsibilities of the Board, in addition to ensuring all legal concerns
are addressed and finances are monitored appropriately, include attending,
generally once a month, meetings lasting no longer than 2 hours each plus
providing support in any other areas of choice.
