[BCMA] Call for Artists

The Mackie Lake House Foundation Artist in Residence Program is a collaborative partnership between Mackie Lake House Foundation and Vernon Public Art Gallery (VPAG). We're currently accepting applications for the Summer 2025 program. We welcome submissions from emerging, mid-career, and established artists across all visual art disciplines, ranging from experimental and interdisciplinary practices to contemporary practices in painting, illustration, sculpture, photography, video, and more. Following the eight week project residency at Mackie Lake House, the selected artist will present a solo exhibition at the Vernon Public Art Gallery in their Community Gallery space from October to December, 2025.


The artist will receive the use of Mackie Lake House and its resources at no cost. The resident artist will be paid a CARFAC-standard fee of $2,105 (+ GST) for the solo exhibition. The artist will be paid an honorarium of $130 for the artist talk/demonstration.


This residency will take place during working hours at Mackie Lake House and does not include boarding at the house. Interested artists from outside of the local area/North Okanagan will be responsible for their own accommodation.

Calling all artists passionate about heritage! Are you looking for an opportunity to develop a project or series and exhibit your work?

Mackie Lake House is seeking applications for its Summer 2025 Artist in Residence Program (AiR Program). The Summer 2025 AiR Program is a collaborative partnership between Mackie Lake House Foundation and Vernon Public Art Gallery, designed to support the development of an artistic project or series. The resident artist will reflect on how heritage and culture can “collide” with the arts immersed in the setting, community, and daily happenings of a beloved heritage property.

Following the eight week project residency (from July 2 to Sept 2) at Mackie Lake House, the selected artist will present a solo exhibition at the Vernon Public Art Gallery in their Community Gallery space from October to December, 2025.

We welcome submissions from emerging, mid-career, and established artists across all visual art disciplines, ranging from experimental and interdisciplinary practices to contemporary practices in painting, illustration, sculpture, photography, video, and more. Artists who identify as IBPOC and LGBTQIIA+ are encouraged to apply.

*Please note that this residency does not include boarding. Artists from the North Okanagan take priority, while artists from across BC are welcome to submit an application.
