Hi everyone,
The second season of our joint networks book & media club, Beyond the
Margins, starts in a week on April 9th! After a wonderful first season, we
are so excited to bring back this joint network space. We would love for
you to join us! Don't have the capacity to listen to the podcast/read the
comic in time? Feel free to still join us on April 9 for discussions on
equity in the outdoors! Participation is free, but registration is
required.
This season's theme will be "Lessons From The Natural World", with readings
from Robin Wall Kimmerer, Alexis Pauline Gumbs, and many more. For April 9,
we will be discussing The Joy Report Podcast: Nature is for Everyone
<https://intersectionalenvironmentalist.com/the-joy-report/nature-is-for-everyone-equity-in-the-outdoors>
and Christian Cooper's "It's a Bird
<https://members.museum.bc.ca//cmfiles/8ad90682024fe441/fileManager/private/files/52536/Its_A_Bird_-_Christian_Cooper.pdf>"
comic.
Beyond the Margins seeks to create a supportive intersectional space
focused on community building in the arts, culture, and heritage sector.
This growth-oriented network provides a space to learn from one another and
build solidarity amongst queer and IBPOC folks through the exploration of
diverse media.
Hosting joint network events is intended as a way to celebrate and hold
space for intersectionalities of identity and fill gaps in this type of
programming – *all who identify as IBPOC and/or 2SLGBTQIA+ are welcome!*
