The City of New Westminster has an opportunity for a regular full time Heritage Programs Coordinator. Operating from Anvil Centre, this position supports the citywide planning, development, scheduling, coordination and implementation of heritage programs for the City of New Westminster.

Reporting to the Cultural Heritage Supervisor, you will work in a community development context to develop and present public programs, school programs, courses, workshops and special events for the Museum in Anvil Centre, Samson V Maritime Museum, Irving House Heritage Centre, and in places of heritage significance throughout the City. You will be supervising program staff, instructors, and volunteers; establishing and maintaining liaison with a variety of internal and external contacts; promoting and publicizing interest and participation in program activities; assisting in the preparation and monitoring of program budgets; and supporting heritage facility daily operations.

Our ideal candidate demonstrates:
· Graduation from a university or college with a degree or diploma in a specialized discipline relevant to museum and community heritage programming, plus sound related experience in program development for community heritage programming; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
· Considerable knowledge in the principles, practices, and objectives of programming in museums and on heritage properties.
· Sound knowledge of supervisory methods including recruiting, onboarding and supervising staff, instructors and volunteers in a cultural setting.
· Experience working with program management, registration and scheduling software such as Xplor.
· Ability to exercise initiative and judgement and to work independently in the planning, developing, scheduling, promoting, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating of heritage programs.
· Proficiency in communicating effectively both orally and in writing.
· Considerable knowledge of standards, teaching methods and group leadership techniques
· The ability to build positive relationships within and outside the organization and promote public interest and participation in heritage programs.
· The ability to prepare and monitor program budgets as well as prepare and maintain records, reports and correspondence related to the work.
· The ability to collaborate with other staff members in planning, organizing and coordinating community-wide events and programs.
· The ability to work non-standard hours as operationally required.
· The ability to successfully pass and maintain a clear Police Information Check - Vulnerable Sector.
Employment Status: Regular Full-Time
Pay Range: $36.09 to $42.45 per hour + comprehensive benefits package
