Call for Speakers and Proposals Announcement
Join the Archives Association of BC <https://aabc.ca/> and ARMA VI
<https://armavi.org/> for our 2024 virtual conference: Going further
together: Connectivity and partnerships in the information profession May
29 - 31, 2024. As the proverb goes: If you want to go fast, go alone, but
if you want to go far, go together. Post-Covid, the information field is
ready to reinvigorate and seek new partnerships to go further in our theory
and practice.
The organizing committee for the AABC / ARMA VI Joint Conference 2024 are
inviting proposals related to the topic of partnerships, connectivity, and
relationship building in the information field. Suggested topics include,
but are not limited to:
- Navigating low morale and capacity post covid through partnerships and
relationship building;
- Integrating and making space for new ideas, ways of knowing,
practices, and theoretical perspectives;
- Working with parallel and other professions or fields to improve
practices and theory in information work;
- Connections between large and small institutions, between communities,
or between regions to accomplish projects;
- Reciprocal and meaningful relationship building between archives and
records management departments and Indigenous, marginalized, or POC
communities;
- Relationship building initiatives in the Truth and Reconciliation and
TRC Calls to Action landscape;
- Connecting with specialists in the IT or STEM fields to implement
digital transformation projects, or adapt new technologies;
- Collaborations to overcome limitations, challenges, or shrinking
budgets including experimental approaches;
- Partnerships with donors and record creators to develop
person-centered archival descriptions or improve record lifecycle
management;
- Collaborations that enhance privacy, access, or visibility of your
institution, or the visibility of groups and communities;
- Other topics or approaches to the theme as appropriate
We are accepting proposals for panels, roundtables, presentations,
lightning talks, poster sessions, and short workshops. If you have another
format you would prefer, we are flexible!
*Please submit conference proposals of 250 words and a short bio(s) of
speakers to info at aabc.ca <info at aabc.ca> by Friday, April 19th, 2024.* If
you have a preferred presentation format (e.g. roundtable discussion,
presentation) and session length, please include that information as well
in your submission.
Kindly,
