[BCMA] Indigenous History and Heritage Gathering - March 31 Early Bird Deadline

Hello All,

The early bird deadline is fast approaching for the second annual Indigenous History and Heritage Gathering, hosted by the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation and the First Nations Confederacy of Cultural Education Centres. This gathering is proudly presented by Know History. IHHG will kick off Indigenous History Month, taking place at the Westin Ottawa from June 2-4, 2024.

This gathering will serve as a forum to highlight the incredible work being undertaken across Canada to preserve and share Indigenous history, culture, and heritage. The event welcomes Indigenous and non-Indigenous community leaders, museum professionals, scholars, researchers, educators, and advocates to come together and engage in meaningful dialogue, exchange ideas, and contribute to the preservation, understanding, and appreciation of Indigenous history and heritage.

This year's event includes pre-gathering workshops, offsite fieldtrips, and an arts and culture night with pop-up exhibits and an Indigenous artisan's market. Conference sessions will fall under our four program streams:

  *   Residential and Day Schools
  *   Preserving Language and Culture
  *   Sharing Stories
  *   Land Back

We are also excited to host a keynote session featuring three incredible Indigenous storytellers: Alanis Obomsawin, a groundbreaking documentary filmmaker, Tanya Talaga, a bestselling author and journalist, and Connie Walker, a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist and podcaster.
