[BCMA] Early bird rates ending -- Crossing Fonds Symposium (April 25-28, 2024)

Hello,

This is a final call for early bird pricing (ends March 15) to join us for the Crossing Fonds symposium<https://crossingfonds.com/> in Metro Vancouver and online from April 25-28, 2024.  Crossing Fonds will explore trends in digital archival practice, including the Crossing Fonds platform for collaboration between archives; critical digital archives practices including an ethics of care; Indigenous data sovereignty; collaborative tools and methods, community-centered collections created for and with equity-deserving communities; and media arts conservation. Featured case studies that “cross fonds” are Black Labour and Culture History in the Greater Vancouver Area, Women’s Labour History: Restaurant Work in the Greater Vancouver Area, and the Indigenous Media Arts Group and IMAGeNation Aboriginal Film and Video Festival Archive. Panels feature archival projects from IBPOC, queer and trans, and disabled communities and digital technology leaders.  Evening receptions, exhibitions, and film screenings will take place at VIVO Media Arts<https://www.vivomediaarts.com/> and the Black Arts Centre<https://theblackartscentre.ca/>. Building on a two-year SSHRC Partnership Development grant, producing partners are OCAD University; Simon Fraser University Archives, Library, Special Collections and Rare Books; City of Vancouver Archives; VIVO Media Arts Centre; and BLAC.

Pre-symposium workshops (in person only) will include hands-on training in collaborative annotation, visualization, and cataloguing tools.  Workshops are filling up with limited spots remaining.
