This is a timely question for our museum as well, we’re in the process of amalgamating into a database all of the cemetery, death, obituary, burial, marriage, birth, family story and membership registration information we hold from a variety of sources, some publicly available, some not unless a person comes into our museum to make use of our collections.

Subject: [BCMA] Vital Statistics information
Would a museum archive be in violation of the Vital Statistics Act for distributing Birth, Death and Marriage information, suppressed by the Ministry, derived from public sources such as newspapers and obituaries? The information is still available through these sources, the organization is simply echoing it. What do you think?
