*Unarchived: On Local Community Archives - Screening & Discussion at the
Vancouver Public Library*

"In community archives across British Columbia, local knowledge keepers are
hand-fashioning a more inclusive history. Through a collage of personal
interviews, archival footage and deeply rooted memories, the past, present
and future come together, fighting for a space where everyone is seen and
everyone belongs. History is what we all make of it".

Who decides what gets archived and what doesn't in today's cultural
institutions? Has the time of reckoning finally come and is it the
responsibility of community archives to fill those gaps?

After the screening, join Ron Dutton, retired librarian, archivist and the
manager of the B.C. Gay and Lesbian Archives, Dan Pon, a librarian,
archivist and the Archives Manager at grunt gallery and moderator Lisa
Uyeda, archivist and Collections Manager at the Nikkei National Museum &
Cultural Centre, as they discuss the challenges that are faced in the
acquisition, selection, preservation and the display of community archives.
