Funding Available to Support Communities in Shaping the Vision for a New
Museum/Cultural Centre Highlighting the Histories, Cultures, and
Contributions of Canadians of South Asian Heritages

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, and Sport is partnering with the BC
Museums Association to launch the 2024 Community Grant program
<https://museum.bc.ca/funding-opportunities/bcma-grants/community-grants/>
to support public engagement that will inform the vision for a new
museum/cultural centre highlighting the histories, cultures, and
contributions of Canadians of South Asian heritages in B.C.

The focus of the engagement is to welcome ideas and input from communities
who share in these histories and cultures, and whose stories and
contributions will be reflected in this initiative. Engagement questions
will focus on the following key themes:

   -

   The purpose of this space and how it should be used
   -

   Who it will serve
   -

   What its impact might be for BC
   -

   Considerations for where the space might be located

Grants of $5,000 are available to cover the costs of holding engagement
activities, ensuring diverse voices are heard and represented. The grant
application process will begin on April 8, 2024, and remain open until June
2024.

The 2024 Community Grant program is an excellent opportunity for BCMA
members to host community events, connect with diverse community members
and organizations, and help shape the future of a new museum/cultural
centre.

Information about the 2024 Community Grant program is now available on the BCMA
website
<https://museum.bc.ca/funding-opportunities/bcma-grants/community-grants/>
and grant applications will open on April 8. Grants will be awarded on a
rolling basis and we hope to offer a quick turnaround from application to
notification of funding.
