Unarchived Film Screening

In person: Newcombe Hall, Royal BC Museum, Victoria, BC

Online: Join us for a discussion with former BC Archives archivist Genevieve Weber following the screening of the film at 3:30 via Zoom, register here: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZwkf–upzouHdzDyAzuv6EoYATeSUkZEuCk

In the new feature documentary Unarchived, co-directors Hayley Gray and Elad Tzadok highlight community archives across British Columbia to reveal some of what has been erased from the official record. In community archives across the province, local knowledge keepers are hand-fashioning a more inclusive history. Through a collage of personal interviews, archival footage and deeply rooted memories, the past, present and future come together, fighting for a space where everyone is seen and everyone belongs. History is what we all make of it.

Following the screening, archivist Genevieve Weber will discuss the educational material she developed with the National Film Board of Canada that goes alongside the documentary film. This includes mini-lessons for high school students and field trip guides for students of all ages which can be used by anyone visiting an exhibition incorporating archival material.

To avoid any technical glitches, and to make sure everyone can view the film in the best possible quality, we are asking that those of you joining us via Zoom for the post-screening discussion stream Unarchived at your own convenience prior to the online portion of the event. Find the link to watch Unarchived below. However, it is not a requirement to join.

Everyone is welcome! https://www.nfb.ca/film/unarchived/
