*Position Summary*
The British Columbia Aviation Museum (BCAM) is dedicated to preserving
aircraft and artefacts. We collect, restore and display aircraft and
artefacts related to the history of aviation in Canada, with emphasis on
British Columbia.

Museum activities include aircraft restoration to static or airworthy
status, construction of engine displays, aircraft modeling, artefact
maintenance, archive maintenance (aviation books, pictures, and videos),
and creation of memorials to aviation and the people who made it happen. We
have plans to expand the museum by adding more space and more displays.

The museum is operated by dedicated volunteers. Volunteers devote their
time and skills to creating and maintaining a dynamic museum for the
education and enjoyment of the public.

In 2021 the Museum approved an ambitious five-year strategic plan to guide
its future development.

The BCAM is seeking an experienced leader of a non-profit organization
and/or museum professional to serve as the Executive Director.  Reporting
to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will be a
forward-thinking, innovative leader who will be responsible for ongoing
museum operations and implementing the goals and key objectives articulated
in the Museum’s strategic plan.

*Position Description*

The Executive Director provides leadership for the BC Aviation Museum
(BCAM) and is responsible for planning, staffing, direction, financial and
strategic management, and ensuring that the BCAM operates and is
administered in an efficient and effective manner.

The Executive Director has overall responsibility for the day-to-day
operational activities of the Museum and its continued growth.

While much of the work will be carried out by volunteers, paid employees,
and contractors, the Executive Director will be responsible for the
preparation of plans, procedures and processes and ensuring that required
services, activities and projects are delivered.

The Executive Director is accountable to the Board of Directors and reports
to the President of the BCAM.

*Education and Experience*

Qualifications for this position include:


   - ·         Post-secondary degree in management, administration,
   history, museum studies, interdisciplinary arts and humanities, or a
   related discipline. A graduate degree is desirable.
   - ·         Experience at a senior level managing a non-profit or
   volunteer organization.
   - ·         Experience with fundraising and grant writing.
   - ·         Experience managing volunteers, employees, and independent
   contractors.
   - ·         Professional experience in a museum or arts/cultural
   organization is desirable.
   - ·         Experience managing education and outreach programs is
   desirable.
   - ·         Formal education and/or experience with contract and project
   management is desirable.

An appropriate combination of education and demonstrated experience would
be considered.

*Salary and Benefits*

This is a full-time position with a salary range of $75,000-$85,000 per
year, plus benefits.
