$22 hr for 20 hours weekly

May 31, 2023 to August 26, 2023

 

The Ross Bay Villa Society is seeking a post-secondary student who is
passionate about Canadian history and the role that museums can play in
informing and educating the public about our local, regional and national
history. This position will be of interest to someone who is considering a
possible career in museum programming.

 

Ross Bay Villa Society owns and operates the 1865 Ross Bay Villa Historic
House Museum (the Villa). The Villa was home to early Victoria Member of
Parliament Frances Roscoe, his wife Letitia and their five children. Over
the past 20 years, the house and gardens have been meticulously conserved
and restored to reflect the 1860s and 1870s era when the Roscoe family were
in residence.

 

The primary function of the Museum Program Coordinator is to promote the
Villa through guided tours and to develop programs to enhance the profile of
the museum in schools, the community and the tourism sector. This position
may also include curatorial opportunities.

The successful applicant will bring the following skills to the position:

*	Ability to engage with the public;
*	Excellent communication and interpretive skills;
*	Ability to work independently and in conjunction with a team;
*	Critical thinking and organizational abilities;
*	Ability to initiate and promote ideas to enhance the Villa's
mandate.
