[BCMA] Revelstoke Museum and Archives Internship Opportunity

Revelstoke Museum & Archives is accepting applications for the intern
position of Collections Manager, with funding from Young Canada Works in
Building Careers in Heritage. 

 

The successful applicant will be a post-secondary graduate up to the age of
30. The applicant will be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have
refugee status. Applicants will be required to register with Young Canada
Works

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for accessioning museum
artifacts, entering data in the collections management program, ensuring the
proper conservation and storage of artifacts, and preparing artifacts for
exhibit. The job will also include tasks in exhibit planning and
preparation, research, writing, and presentation. Preference will be given
to recent graduates in the field of museum studies, library and archives
programs, Canadian history, anthropology, and related fields. Above average
computer skills are required. Strong verbal and written communication skills
in English are required. Applicants may be asked to study preparatory
materials and to take a brief written test indicating their understanding of
museum policies and procedures.

The job will take place at Revelstoke Museum and Archives in Revelstoke,
B.C. This museum and archives was established in 1962 and is housed in a
heritage post office building. The collection focuses on the social and
industrial history of the community and region. The museum has dynamic
exhibits and vibrant community programming. The museum website is

The position will begin on September 6, 2022, and will run for 26 weeks,
concluding on March 10, 2023. The position will pay $20 per hour, and the
work week will be 35 hours. Applications must be received at Revelstoke

Revelstoke is a welcoming community with a population of about 7,500 in the
beautiful setting of the Selkirk and Monashee Mountains, along the Columbia
