[BCMA] New Awards Announced by the BC Historical Federation

The British Columbia Historical Federation has launched 3 new awards during its 2022 centennial year. British Columbians are encouraged to make nominations before March 1, 2022 in the following categories.

Storytelling Award:<http://www.bchistory.ca/advocacy-award/storytelling-award/> This $500 prize is open to organizations, groups and individuals who engage the hearts and minds of people exploring British Columbia’s diverse history. From social media groups to blogs, newspaper columns to videographers – there’s a rich bounty of historical storytelling in B.C..

Advocacy Award:<http://www.bchistory.ca/advocacy-award/> A $250 prize recognizing groundbreaking initiatives and projects that create positive change in the world and improve the lives and understanding of all British Columbians. The theme for 2022 is Truth and Reconciliation.

Cultural Resource Accessibility Award:<http://www.bchistory.ca/advocacy-award/cultural-resource-accessibility-award/> A $500 prize for excellence in cultural resource management work to help connect British Columbians with their history. Eligible projects relate to preservation and presentation of B.C.’s heritage collections through cataloguing, scanning, digitizing, finding aids and more.

The BCHF also issues annual awards for Scholarships, the Centennial Legacy Fund, Best Historical Writing, Best Article and Recognition Awards. BCHF is the voice of heritage and historical societies across British Columbia.
