[BCMA] Painting needs forever home

Hello-



A while ago, Saanich Archives received a donation of a framed painting by
Doreen Heelas (1907 – 1984). After researching the painting and the artist,
we determined that it doesn’t fit our collection mandate as the location in
the painting is not anywhere in Saanich, and Doreen Heelas was actually a
resident of Vancouver. She also lived for a few years in Vernon. We’re now
hoping to transfer this item to another archives or museum.



This watercolour measures 40 x 49 cm. in the frame. The location and date
are unknown, possibly the 1940s. I’m including a photo of the painting, and
a copy of the information we managed to compile about Doreen Heelas.

painting, we’d love to know!
