<div dir="ltr"><div>Hi Ron,</div><div><br></div><div>We hire summer students every year, and usually receive funding from either Canada Summer Jobs or Young Canada Works. Canada Summer Jobs does not require the person to be a returning student, but YCW does, so it really depends on your preference.</div><div><br></div><div>For posting, we focus on university job boards, and since you're located on the Island, I'd focus on all lower mainland and island schools. We also post locally on our WorkBC job board, and through Indeed. YCW has their own job board that any successfully funded position automatically gets posted to as well. You can also hire recent highschool graduates that are returning to school in the fall. They just have to be between the ages of 15 and 30. However, highschool students have been hit or miss for us when we've hired them, so make sure you have a good vetting process and strict cell phone policies. YCW also sometimes helps students with moving costs if they take a position and they are from places like Toronto. This year we hired a student from UBC and we're located in the Kootenay/Columbia region, and she received reimbursements for her travel.</div><div><br></div><div>The rate of pay varies depending on where you are located, how much the cost of living is, and how much you can afford. We live in a rural area where housing and food are expensive. The living wage here is about $27/hr. We usually pay $25 for our students and have never had problems filling a role. Other places that pay less sometimes do.</div><div><br></div><div>I would suggest trying to hire locally whenever possible. These days it is hard to find accommodation. And make sure the candidate you hire has a place to live already or a plan on how to find one.</div><div><br></div><div>If you'd like to chat more about this, please let me know. I would be happy to talk, and also to chat about the grant application processes. They can be pretty grueling!</div><div><br></div><div>Cheers,</div><div><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr"><div><div>_____________________________________________________________<br></div></div><div><p class="MsoNormal" style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);margin-bottom:12pt"><span style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"><b style="font-size:large">Brittany Newman </b><i>(She/Her</i><i>) </i></span><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> </span> Executive Director<span style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif"> </span><font size="4"> </font><br><u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="color:rgb(0,0,0)"><font face="Univers LT Pro 55, sans-serif">Golden Museum and Archives</font><span style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif;font-size:8pt"><br><a href="https://www.google.com/maps/place/Golden+%26+District+Museum/@51.2922114,-116.9631953,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x5379bf96b43fc203:0x194db531bf58fa85!8m2!3d51.2922129!4d-116.9611077" target="_blank">1302 11th Ave S, Golden BC, V0A 1H0</a><br>PO Box 992, Golden BC, V0A 1H0</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial,sans-serif;font-size:8pt">Phone: 250 344-5169 </span><span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial,sans-serif;font-size:7.5pt"><br></span><span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial,sans-serif;font-size:8pt"><a href="mailto:museum.golden@gmail.com" target="_blank">museum.golden@gmail.com </a> | </span><font color="#000000"><a href="https://goldenbcmuseums.com/" target="_blank"><font face="arial, sans-serif"><span style="font-size:10.6667px">https://goldenbcmuseums.com/</span></font></a></font><span style="color:blue;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;font-size:8pt"> </span><span lang="EN-US" style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial,sans-serif;font-size:8pt"><br>Join us on: <a href="https://www.facebook.com/museum.golden/" style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(17,85,204)" target="_blank"><span style="color:blue">Facebook</span></a> | </span><span lang="EN-US" style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:"Univers LT Pro 55",sans-serif;font-size:8pt"><a href="https://www.instagram.com/museum.golden" style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(17,85,204)" target="_blank"><span style="color:blue">Instagram</span></a></span><span lang="EN-US" style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial,sans-serif;font-size:8pt"> </span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><br></p><p class="MsoNormal">The Golden Museum and Archives operates on the territories of the Ktunaxa and Secwepemc Peoples<span style="color:rgb(34,34,34)">, and the chosen home of the Metis Nation Columbia River Society</span>.
