Wildfires, floods, and destructive storms are becoming common events,
adding to the more predictable risks that our collections and buildings are facing. Our best line of defense
is emergency preparedness, training and response. The British Columbia
Heritage Emergency Response Network (BC HERN) is a growing consortium of
institutions within the arts and culture sector
whose staff feel morally and professionally obliged to safeguard the
collections that they hold by adequately planning for emergency
situations as well as to support others in the event of localized
emergencies.<br>

Join the BC HERN team of experts for a 2-day hands-on workshop that provides
training and guidance on emergency response and collections salvage
(mixed and archival materials) and is targeted at museum & gallery
professionals, keepers of cultural heritage, and volunteers from small
cultural institutions with little to no training in responding to
emergencies.<br><br></div>The next workshop will take place at <b>Rossland Museum & Discovery Centre in Rossland, BC on September 18 & 19, 2022</b>.<br><br>Cost (to cover material and catering): $45.00.<br><font size="2"><i>If cost is a barrier to attending, please get in touch with the BCMA team at <a href="mailto:bcma@museum.bc.ca">bcma@museum.bc.ca</a>, we're happy to find a solution.</i></font><br><br></div><b>Find out more and register at </b><a href="https://members.museum.bc.ca/public/event/details/3b70c5784be538da5d4b03e068cac4ccc56a881d/1"><b>https://members.museum.bc.ca/public/event/details/3b70c5784be538da5d4b03e068cac4ccc56a881d/1</b><br></a><div><br></div><div><br></div><img src="cid:ii_l6l38umo1" alt="BCHERN_funlogo_extended-1.webp" width="350" height="146"><br></div>
