cataloguing projects in the Fort St. John North Peace Museum’s collection and
archives. The assistant curator will help catalogue incoming and backlogged
donations to the museum. He/she will assist with scanning and describing an
enormous collection of over 2000 negatives taken by local photographer Rudy
Schubert in the 1940s-1960s as well as scanning and indexing the Alaska Highway
News. <u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal">The assistant curator will have the opportunity to research
and develop a small exhibit on Indigenous place names for the museum’s display

meetings and networking with Peace Region museums<u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal"><u></u> <u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal">Qualifications<u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal">The applicants for this position must have an interest in
Canadian and local history and be willing to learn more about Fort St. John and
the North Peace region. Candidates should enjoy meeting and interacting with
the public. Applicants need to be organized, flexible, self-motivated, and able
to work without constant direct supervision. They must work well with Museum
staff and volunteers. These individuals must be responsible and mature.
Excellent computer, research, and writing skills are required. Experience in
cataloguing, digitizing historic documents, and developing exhibits are assets.
<u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal"><u></u> <u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal">Applicants must be between 16 and 30 years of age at the
start of employment and registered under the Young Canada Works program. They
must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents or have refugee status in
Canada and must be legally entitled to work in Canada. Interns must be willing
to commit to the full duration of this work position (Nov. 29, 2021 to March
31, 2022) and will not hold another full-time job (30+ hours) or receive EI
while employed with us. Applicants must be unemployed or underemployed and have
completed a college or university degree in museum studies, archival studies,
