The Tofino Clayoquot Heritage Museum is currently seeking a Museum Intern (current student) to join our team from May to the end of August 2026.
Position Type: Full-time, Temporary (Summer 2026)
Dates: May – August 2026
Hours: 35 hours/week
Wage: $21.00/hour
About the Organization
The Tofino Clayoquot Heritage Museum (TCHM) is a community museum dedicated to preserving and sharing the cultural, natural, and Indigenous history of Clayoquot Sound. Operated by the Tofino Clayoquot Heritage Society, the museum offers engaging exhibitions, educational programming, and community initiatives.
Position Overview
The Museum Intern will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic community museum environment. This position supports daily operations and contributes to collections management, exhibition development, and visitor engagement.
Key Responsibilities

  *
Provide front-line visitor services and interpret exhibitions
  *
Assist with collections management (cataloguing, handling, documentation)
  *
Support exhibit research, development, and installation
  *
Assist with public programming and community outreach
  *
Support general museum operations as needed

Qualifications

  *
Current post-secondary student in history, museum studies, anthropology, or a related field
  *
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  *
Organized and detail-oriented
  *
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  *
Interest in community heritage and public history

Eligibility Requirements
This position is funded through the Young Canada Works program. Applicants must:

  *
Be a current student
  *
Be returning to full-time studies in September 2026
  *
Be legally entitled to work in Canada
  *
Be between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
