Colleagues,

We invite you to join us for the in-person workshop: “Bugs and Boxes:
Preventative Conservation” that will be held in Kelowna, BC on Tuesday, May
12, 2026.

The Okanagan Heritage Museum Conservation team will lead this 1-day
hands-on workshop that will enhance your preventative conservation
skills. Participants
will learn about pests and preventative measures, and how to create custom
boxes, 4-flap folders, and safely encapsulate items. The workshop will also
include a discussion forum where participants can share conservation
concerns and questions related to the storage and care of archival
materials in their holdings. This learning opportunity is perfect for those
working in archives, libraries, and museums with archival materials.
Participants will bring home enclosure samples.

Note: workshop participants are responsible for their own lunch and any
travel fees related to the workshop. Light refreshments will be provided
throughout the day.

Instructors:

Megan Fisher (she/her) has been the Conservator at Kelowna Museums Society
for 3 years, where she contributes to both hands-on conservation work and
preventative conservation practices for the museum’s collection and the
archives. She works in the Ursula Surtees Regional Conservation Laboratory,
which also provides conservation services to the public. Megan has a
graduate certificate in Cultural Heritage Conservation and Management from
Fleming College (2022) and a BA in Archaeology from Simon Fraser University
(2020).

Allison Wardle (she/her) has been an Archives Associate at Kelowna Museums
Society for 4 years. She contributes to the acquisition, preservation and
sharing of archival materials. Allison spends most of her time working with
the collection at the Vince Bezeau Military Library and Archives. Prior to
her work in the archives, Allison worked in education and public

her teaching hat back on. Allison has her MLIS from the University of
