[BCMA] Accessible Washrooms

We are investigating the possibility of adding an accessible washroom to
our site. Currently, we are housed in a municipal owned heritage building
so that does complicate matters a bit. We do have a washroom on site, but
it is located upstairs with an L-shape staircase that is very narrow and we
do not have an elevator (due to this being a historic building). We have a
secondary site that our Heritage Society owns (across the street from the
main site) that does have an accessible washroom.

Basically, we were wondering the following information for any heritage
site in regard to their washrooms (specifically for those who are part of
sites that were not purpose built):

· If you don't have an accessible washroom, what do you do for guests that
require one?

· What does your accessible washroom look like (i.e. is it a one room
unisex washroom, several different stalls, etc.)

· Where did you put the washroom? (i.e. purpose built, added onto the
building, etc.)

· Did you get any grants for the installation of the washroom, if so which
ones?

· What issues or things occurred that you would want to let someone else
beginning a similar project know?
