Caetani Centre Launches 2026 Winter–Spring Creating Space Programming and
Events
Get ready to explore creativity, community, and personal expression in a
meaningful setting.
VERNON, BC – The Caetani Cultural Centre invites community members of all
ages to explore creativity, reflection, and expression through a dynamic
lineup of exhibitions, events, and workshops this winter and spring.
Programming runs from January through June 2026 at the Caetani Cultural
Centre in Vernon, BC, offering opportunities to engage with visual art,
writing, poetry, and theatre in an inspiring heritage setting.
“Creating Space is about offering people time, tools, and a welcoming place
to explore their inner and creative lives,” says Laisha Rosnau, Executive
Director of the Caetani Cultural Centre. “This winter and spring, we’re
excited to bring artists and community members together in ways that honour
Sveva Caetani’s legacy while nurturing curiosity, connection, and
creativity.”
The season begins with Inner Thread, an immersive installation by
Okanagan-based artist Suzy King, on view in the Caetani Gallery from
January 20 to February 7. Richly textured and hands-on, the installation
draws on fibre, colour, and sensory experience to invite visitors to slow
down and explore quiet connections between body, material, and inner life.
An opening reception will be held January 24 from 2–6 pm, inviting guests
to dress in black, white, or warm tones ranging from orange to terracotta,
coral, or ochre. Beverages will be available by cash donation, with snacks
provided.
On January 31 at 2 pm, King will also present an artist talk and Q&A
titled “Becoming
an Installation Artist.”
Gallery hours during the exhibition are Tuesday to Friday, 10 am–4 pm, and
Saturday, 1–4 pm. The exhibition is open to all ages and admission is by
donation.
As part of Vernon Winter Carnival, the Caetani Centre will host its third
annual A Winter’s Night Painting Party on February 12 in the Caetani
Gallery. This lively evening invites participants to relax, socialize, and
create alongside artist Destanne Norris, producing a Sveva Caetani–inspired
painting to take home. Tickets include all materials, facilitation, food,
and beverages. Tickets are $65 + GST and available through the Vernon
Winter Carnival.

Building on this vibrant winter programming, the Caetani Centre launches
its Winter–Spring 2026 Creating Space Workshop Series, running from
February to June 2026. Led by accomplished local artists, the series
emphasizes creativity as both artistic practice and personal exploration.
For those interested in creativity as a wellness practice, Writing for
Wellbeing with published author Hannah Calder begins February 19. This
six-session weekly series focuses on journaling and creative writing for
emotional resilience, mindfulness, and self-discovery. Open to writers and
non-writers alike, the workshop emphasizes reflection over critique in a
supportive, low-pressure environment.
Tracing the Inner Myth: A Creative Journey with Sveva Caetani, facilitated
by artist Destanne Norris, is a five-part monthly painting workshop
beginning February 21 for participants aged 13+. Drawing inspiration from
Sveva Caetani’s art and life, participants will explore symbolism,
narrative, and personal expression while developing one to two finished
paintings, with the opportunity to exhibit their work at the Caetani Centre.
Poetry for All, led by local poet Michelle Doege, starts March 7 and runs
for seven sessions. Grounded in community, storytelling, and craft,
participants will read, write, and share poems while developing strong
poetic skills, culminating in a celebratory group reading.
Theatre programming begins in April with two outdoor classes led by actor
Amelia Sirianni: an 8-week Youth Drama Class for ages 9–13 and a 6-week Adult
Drama Class for ages 16+. These classes introduce acting techniques,
improvisation, character development, and collaboration, with youth
participants creating an original theatrical piece by the end of the
session.
All workshops and events take place at the Caetani Cultural Centre, with
select sessions held in the Caetani Gallery, Ninfa Studio, or outdoors on
the grounds. Workshops require minimum enrollment to proceed. Financial
subsidies are available on a case-by-case basis to support accessibility.
Registration for workshops is now available online at:

About the Caetani Cultural Centre
The Caetani Cultural Centre is a vibrant arts and culture facility housed
in a designated heritage home on a 1.3-acre property in the heart of
Vernon, BC. Featuring a gallery, exhibition space, and artist studios, the
Centre is recognized as one of the North Okanagan’s premier arts venues,
welcoming artists and visitors from around the world.
Rooted in the legacy of artist Sveva Caetani, the Centre seeks to harness
the power of art and storytelling to inspire creativity, build community,
and enrich lives. When Sveva entrusted her home to the Greater Vernon
community in 1994, she envisioned it as a cultural hub for artistic
expression. That vision continues today through diverse programming that
connects past and present.
