Sidney Museum Soliciting New Board Members for 2026
Sidney, British Columbia, February 28, 2026 - The Sidney Museum is
currently seeking new members to join its Board of Directors. If you have a
love of local heritage and a desire to give back to your community, we’d
love to hear from you — applicants of all ages, backgrounds, and levels of
board experience are encouraged to apply.
The Board provides governance oversight to help guide the Museum’s
direction and ensure its continued success. Board members attend monthly
meetings (typically ten per year) and also contribute through committee
work. From time to time, additional meetings may be required.
The Board welcomes applicants with experience or skills in areas such as
governance, business management, finance, human resources, fundraising,
communications, IT, or other relevant professional or community leadership
experience.
Established in 1971, the Sidney Museum was created to collect, preserve,
and share the significant historical objects and archival materials of our
region. For over five decades, the Museum has proudly served the
communities of Sidney and North Saanich by showcasing local stories and
artifacts, hosting travelling exhibitions from other institutions, and
presenting popular in-house exhibitions — including our much-loved annual
LEGO® Brick Exhibition.
With dedicated volunteers, enthusiastic staff, and strong community
support, the Museum continues to grow and remain a valued part of our
community.
To be part of helping shape its future, please submit a resume and cover
letter outlining your interest and relevant experience to
nominations at sidneymuseum.ca no later than March 13, 2026.
Successful candidates will be elected at the Sidney Museum & Archives
Society Annual General Meeting in April 2026. Candidates must be members of
the Society and willing to complete a Criminal Record Check.
