[BCMA] Looking for guest speaker: collections management

Hi everyone

This semester I'm teaching 'Management of Archaeological Collections' to a great group of undergraduates here at SFU. It is a 3rd year class with 27 students.

I'd love to arrange a guest speaker from the museum community here in the lower mainland, to share your career trajectory in collections/museums. It is always so beneficial to expose our students to people outside our department, and to learn from others. Many of the students are very interested in working in museums in the future.

I'm reaching out to the community to extend the invitation, in the hopes someone is interested in speaking with the class & sharing their experiences. You don't necessarily need any experience with archaeological collections, though that would be a bonus.

I keep things fairly informal so it doesn't have to involve a slideshow, the class would appreciate a Q&A all the same.

The class I have scheduled for this topic is Tuesday November 25th at 11am, though Tuesday November 18th at the same time will also work. It is an in-person class at our Burnaby campus.

Our department can offer an honorarium, and I will arrange for lunch after class with our wonderful museum staff as well (if you are able to stay for lunch).
