*Content Warning: This email contains questions about Residential School
Denialism experiences.*
If you are an Indian Residential School survivor or have been affected by
the residential school system and need help, you can contact the 24-hour
Indian Residential Schools Crisis Line: 1-866-925-4419
BCMA wants to create a workshop and additional resources to support
museums, art galleries and heritage organizations in combating residential
school denialism
<https://museum.bc.ca/brain/how-museums-can-respond-to-residential-school-denialism/>.
We need your feedback to ensure that the final product meets your needs.
*Please let us know if you have encountered residential school denialism at
your workplace*. If you are comfortable sharing, our staff would like to
understand the context of those interactions (example: a public tour, when
hosting an event in person/online, planning education programs with staff,
etc), what was said, and how it was handled.
If steps were taken by your staff or organization to address denialism,
prepare for possible recurrence, or if there is something you wish you knew
in advance or hindsight, that information is also appreciated.
The BCMA’s goal is to support you, and the more we understand what you are
dealing with, the more we are able to respond directly to your needs. If
there is anything we can do to help you feel more comfortable in sharing
your experiences, please reach out.
*Please email me (Leia) directly at engagement at museum.bc.ca
<engagement at museum.bc.ca> with any responses to this inquiry. *
