[BCMA] Coming Soon- Lii Buflo: A Métis Way of Life at Amelia Douglas Institute

Lii Buflo: A Métis Way of Life is coming soon to the Amelia Douglas Institute for Métis Culture and Language, opening July 14!

We're proud to host this traveling exhibition that explores the cultural and historical ties between the Métis people and the buffalo.

Developed in 2022 by Elk Island National Park, the Arts and Heritage Foundation of St. Albert, and a Métis advisory committee in Alberta, this ten-panel exhibit features vibrant artwork by Vancouver-based Métis artist Jesse Gouchey.

We're especially excited to share that Lii Buflo is almost fully trilingual, with most content presented in English, French, and Northern Michif<https://ameliadouglasinstitute.ca/michif-language>, a first for the ADI showroom.

To highlight local connections, ADI has included content focusing the buffalo's presence and survival in British Columbia, where just a few herds remain today. Visitors can explore how these buffalo in BC are part of the larger story of across the Métis cultural connections across the homeland.

As the centre for Métis culture and language resources in BC, ADI is proud to feature both rotating exhibitions and a permanent display of Métis art at our showroom in Surrey.

Admission: By donation ($5 suggested), free for Indigenous guests
