Hi everyone,

Unfortunately this event happened on Saturday, and has already passed. I must have just gotten it in to the mailing list too late! Sorry for the confusion.

Subject: [BCMA] Celebrate The Water We Call Home at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery

Hello everyone,

In honour of National Indigenous Peoples Day and National Indigenous History Month, join the Gulf of Georgia Cannery to celebrate the 2nd Anniversary of The Water We Call Home: Indigenous Women's Connections to Fish, Water, and Family around the Salish Sea. With free admission to the Cannery for all visitors on Saturday, June 14th, it is the perfect time to honour the stories and experiences shared in the exhibit, and the women who inspired it.

The disconnection of Indigenous communities from traditional practices, lands and waters, and family is an integral part of the story of West Coast fishing and canning. Equally important to this story are the continuing efforts to restore, re-presence, and reinvigorate these connections. Please see attached for the event poster and official program of events, including a storytelling circle from the women who inspired and created The Water We Call Home, exclusive viewings of the exhibit's films in the Boiler House Theatre, a presentation on Japanese Canadian and Indigenous fishing connections by Rosemary Georgeson and John Endo Greenaway, and more as we celebrate 2 years of this powerful and relevant exhibit.

Date: Saturday, June 14th
Time: 10:00-5:00
Location: Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site, 12138 Fourth Avenue, Richmond, BC
Admission: FREE
More information: https://gogcannery.org/explore/events/

We hope you will join us!

Best,

Tatyana Beck
