[BCMA] Heritage Plaque Unveiling, Nanaimo - August 16, 2025

On Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 11 a.m., the BC Labour Heritage Centre will
be unveiling a new heritage plaque in Nanaimo. The bronze plaque is part of
our Plaques Around the Province series.

 

The plaque and the unveiling ceremony are at Bowen Road Cemetery, 555 Bowen
Road in Nanaimo. 

 

The plaque was proposed by the Nanaimo Historical Society and financially
supported by the BC Building Trades Council. It honours the 23 workers
killed on October 17, 1951, while returning to Vancouver from the Kemano
construction site in northwest BC.

 

The event is open to the public.
