Dear Museum/Archive Colleagues,

I am reaching out from the Museum & Archives of Vernon to find a suitable home for two sets of records that are not relevant to our collection but may hold value for another organization in the province. We have already contacted several likely institutions, but these records were declined.

The records are described below:

1st Set of Records
This collection was never accessioned into our collection and lack provenance, but appear to pertain to an individual named Nels Smith who lived in the Vancouver area and was involved with the forestry industry in BC.

  * Contract to Work for the Pas Lumber Company (Nels Smith)
  * IWA Official Time Books (1952 and 1955)
  * Ration Book belonging to Nels Smith (address: 2881 St. George St., Vancouver)
  * Temporary Relief Card for Nels Smith
  * Membership Book: International Hod Carriers', Building, and Common Laborers Union of America
  *   1943 Woodworker's Time Book
  * 1940 Membership Statement: International Woodworkers of America
  * Membership Record: Woodworkers' Industrial Union of Canada
  * Eleven photographs related to logging, with Nels Smith pictured in at least one.

2nd Set of Records
This collection originates from the estate of Peter Tassie, who conducted extensive research on surveyors in the province. Among his materials are:

  * A Special Timber Licence for Nelson Island, New Westminster District, surveyed by G. H. Hensman in 1913.
  * A letter addressed to Hensman from a survey general (handwritten last name appears to be Davison) suggesting corrections to the surveying of lots 3629, 3630, and 3631.

If you believe these records may be of interest to your organization, or if you can recommend another potential home for them, we would be most grateful for your guidance. Please contact me at gwyn.evans at vernonmuseum.ca<mailto:gwyn.evans at vernonmuseum.ca>.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
