[BCMA] Victoria Scout / Guide Museum

Hi everyone.

As a newly registered member of BCMA, I wanted to introduce myself and the
Victoria Scout / Guide Museum located at 505 Marigold Road Victoria BC, V8Z
4R5. We are located in “Victoria Scout House”, which is overseen by the
30th Baden Powell Guild. Besides the museum, it is also a weekly meeting
place for Scouts and several rooms are available for rental, (one of the
present renters being the Boys and Girls Cub), in our two story building.

As for me, have been a member of Scouts Canada for the past 32 years having
been a Beaver, Cub, and Scout leader plus been in a variety of Deputy Area
Commissioners positions. Presently I am the coordinator of the Victoria
Scout / Guide Museum which opened in February of 2023. PS: I have a team of
5 scouters also helping me. Besides that, I am a committee member of Camp
Barnard, a 250 acre Scout Camp on Young Lake in SOOKE, which hosted the
last 3 Scout Jamborees in 2015, 2019 & 2024 where some 3000 Scouts from
around the world attended each Jamboree. I also created and oversee the
Scout Ham Radio Shack at Camp Barnard, whose call sign is VE7SHR (for Scout
Ham Radio)

In the museum, we have an extensive display of both Scout and Guide badges,
books, uniforms plus hundreds of other memorabilia items. In a world where
many Scout museums have closed, we are actually in the midst of a 30%
expansion. As an all volunteer organization, we are open to the public for
visitations and/or tours by appointment only and the entrance fee is by
donation. We can also run a badge trading information session for Scout and
Guide youth upon request. You can also view our museum on our website link

The other reason for this introduction is to forge relationships with other
museums who may want to receive, donate or trade Scout and Guide items with
us, in which we have many extras.
