Good afternoon BCMA Colleagues,

As part of ongoing collection management work at Sidney Museum, collections
personnel have recently been made aware of several objects for which we
know very little about. We have attached a list with corresponding images
to this message.

Included in this list are the following:

   - Napkin rings, two of which are embroidered, and the other two which
are beaded. It is speculated that the beaded pair may feature indigenous
beadwork, but as we have little information on the rings, this is difficult
to determine. We were wondering if anyone has seen similar items before, or
know which region the beadwork may be from. Images of the napkin rings are
   included in the document below.
   - An intricate Birks Sterling Silver case which we guessed to either be
a cigarette case or a calling card case (included in the document below as
well). If anyone has any information on that, please let us know.
   - A handful of knives (full descriptions in attached document). One
seems to have a bone folder on one end and may be a tool for book binding,
   but that is uncertain.

Any help that could help us identify or otherwise provide provenance on
these items would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much!

Best,
Michael Goodchild

to work towards other ways that we can participate in Reconciliation
alongside Indigenous communities.*
