Hi all,
We, also, are a small Museum but have been most fortunate to receive grants
from Canada Summer Jobs. Unfortunately their deadline has passed. They will
pay the provincial minimum wage plus Mandatory Employment Related Costs
(MERCs). The length of employment per student is 8 weeks. We have found
them easy to deal with and the grants are relatively easy to fill out.
As we sometimes have hired the same student for 2 years in a row (cutting
down training time and gaining a lot of experience in a short period of
time) we have paid them $20 - $22 per hour.
Young Canada Works is now available for applications - their criteria are
quite different and the grant a bit more tricky to fill out, but this might
be your best bet at this point in time.
Good luck with it all,
Linda Hanson,
Manager, Telkwa Museum Society
