Hi Maren

As a long time exhibit Designer, I’ve been advocating, for some time now that you consider shipping only artifacts, have flexible exhibit structures with each region and send the graphics electronically so each museum can print, exhibit, and
save each exhibit they receive.

Many years ago we proposed; International Size Standards for exhibit panels @ a ICOM Conference, so where ever
you sent an exhbit it would be comparable with the whatever flexible exhibit system the host museum was using,
provided it an the international size standard, a meter square, for example.

It's like container cargo shipping, when they established a size standard for crates, everything changed completely overnight.

With the cost of materials, crates, transportation, fuel cost , insurance etc. we need to explore less expensive ways
to share cultural information, locally nationally and internationally.

I hope this new way to collaborate is of some interest, We need to make better use of our new technologies, because,
as you suggest, the old ways are becoming, just too expensive, and less effective

We would really appreciate it if any travelling exhibit producers/lenders out there could share which shipping service providers you like to use, and which ones are reasonably economical.

Across all our sites, we are taking strides to adapt and improve operations with Truth and Reconciliation in mind. We welcome dialogue as we continue to build on this work in collaboration with Indigenous nations and organizations.
