Hello,
At the qathet Museum and Archives were digitizing some text records that
have some creative/historic spellings or spellings similar to IPA. For
example, Sliammon is written Slaiäman. Has anyone had any experience making
IPA characters searchable with OCR.
This also had me thinking how do different archives deal with multiple
spellings of historic place names? Do you create a research aid for
researchers or make notes to accompany each archival record? I am thinking
for example, of someone who wants to research Tlaamin history they might
have results by keyword searching Tlaamin, Sliammon, Slaiäman, or other
variations.
Curious to hear about different methods,
