Hello,

We have a few courses coming up that might be of interest to the BCMA audience.

I’ve attached a poster, as well as the details of both sessions below. Both workshops are in person, but one is at a private residence in Vancouver, and the other is at Heritage Hall.

Maintenance and Repair of Wood Windows
Windows are one of the key defining elements of buildings, and with proper maintenance can have a life cycle of one hundred years before needed repair or replacement. Learn how to repair common issues and perform proper maintenance with Ryan Bahris, owner and operator of Extraordinary League Contracting Ltd (EXLE).
This in-person workshop will discuss the design and construction of wood windows, and practical considerations for their conservation and maintenance.
Saturday, September 28th, 10am – 1:30pm
$75 + tax
Creating a Heritage Conservation Plan
In many municipalities in BC, a Heritage Conservation Plan is a mandatory document for development permits involving a listed heritage property or for the purposes of a Heritage Revitalization Agreement, but it also represents a helpful and thorough decision-making process for owners of old buildings.
In this informative in-person workshop at Heritage Hall, heritage professional Elana Zysblat will illustrate how to create a Heritage Conservation Plan, using real case studies.
Wednesday, November 6th, 6pm- 9pm
$45 plus tax

Heritage 101 on Demand
We are recruiting participants to participate in the pilot cohort of the new and improved Heritage 101 this fall. Funded through a grant from the Government of Canada’s Community Services Recovery Fund, the new on-demand course will launch to the public in 2025.
If you are interested in participating, please contact us at mail at vancouverheritagefoundation.org<mailto:mail at vancouverheritagefoundation.org>
If anyone is looking for self-reporting Professional Development credits, our courses are recognized by AIBC, PIBC, BCAAIC, BCSLA, IDIBC and BOABC.
We have a few sponsored seats available in both sessions through our Student Access Program<https://www.vancouverheritagefoundation.org/events/student-access-program/> for those with financial need. We have outreached to local universities as well this week but if you know of anyone who would be interested in a spot, they can contact me directly.

If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to let me know.

Thanks so much,

Katherine Figueiredo (she/her)
