Colleagues,

The AABC is busy planning a wide range of professional development and
learning opportunities in the coming months! Registration is now open for
the following events that may be of interest:

*Workshop: "Ready - Set - Go! Emergency Planning for Organizations"*
Date: May 31, 2024 (9:30am - 4:30pm PST)

We all know that it’s important to be prepared in the event of an
emergency, but the reality of our daily “to do” list at work often sees
this type of planning remain as a low priority on the bottom of the list.
Join us for this 1-day virtual workshop where we will take a proactive
approach to identify threats and challenges to your collection and larger
building envelope. We will discuss the importance of identifying vital
records within your collection and how to prioritize their safe care and
preservation during an emergency.

In the second part of the workshop participants will work together in small
groups to recognize and assess risks to their specific organization. We
will also review the NEDCC Disaster Plan template and how to customize it
to your organization so that participants come away with practical and
useful steps towards meaningful emergency planning.

AABC website at: https://aaobc.wildapricot.org/Workshops

*this event is being held as part of the AABC / ARMA VI Joint Conference
(May 29-20). A bundled registration rate will be available if you would
like to attend the conference and workshop. Please see the conference
website for more information: https://aaobc.wildapricot.org/2024-Conference.
*Registration will be available shortly!*

*Webinar: MemoryBC*
Date: June 6, 2024 (10:00 - 11:30am PST)

Want to learn more about MemoryBC? Never used it (or AtoM) and are curious?
Or you have used it (or AtoM) but have questions? This webinar is for you!
Lisa Snider, the MemoryBC Coordinator, will go over the basics of MemoryBC.
She will cover the researcher or public side, as well as covering the
basics of the backend, and how to input authority records and archival
descriptions. You don't need any technical knowledge, or previous
experience with MemoryBC, to attend. This webinar is a perfect opportunity
to support the work of summer students and volunteers working with records
and adding descriptions into MemoryBC!
