The Golden Museum and Archives has an exciting job opportunity through
Young Canada Works at Building Careers in Heritage. This internship is for
recent university graduates in the GLAM sector.

*About the Position*

The Museum Assistant in Collections Management (MACM) is passionate about
community run organizations, enjoys collaboration, and has an interest in
history.

Answering to the Executive Director, the MACM assists in the day-to-day
running of the Golden Museum and Archives, with a heavy focus on
Collections Management for both archival and physical collections. This
position offers a variety of projects, and has the flexibility to cater to
the successful applicant’s interests and expertise. Because of needs of the
museum change on a regular basis, this position is best suited for someone
with experience in administration that is capable of adapting to meet
shifting needs and can work independently.

Key information:
Contract Length: 48 weeks of employment starting April 29, 2024 and ending
March 29, 2025. Start date may be adjusted for the right candidate.
Schedule: 7 hours, 5 days a week, to be determined during onboarding
process. Schedule is somewhat flexible, and some hours may be required
outside of regular operating hours
Payrate: $25 per hour, 4% vacation pay

Eligibility Requirements:
Must be a recent graduate of a college or university program (certificate,
bachelor's, master's, or doctorate) related to the GLAM sector.
Must have a clean Vulnerable Sectors check, which can be obtained after
being hired

As with most places, there is an affordable housing crisis in Golden, BC.
Preference will be given to candidates that live in the area or have
housing arrangements in place before applying. The Golden Museum and
Archives does not supply staff housing.
