Hi Brittany,
I sincerely hope that the fire near beautiful Golden is soon brought under control, and that the cooler weather assists.

We are currently making use of the Alberta Museums Association ‘’Emergency and Disaster Plan;’’ they invite users to use their draft as a precedent framework on which to base a version adapted to the needs of individual facilities.

I am sure there are other options, but certainly this draft version is helpful as a base document, especially when no doubt many institutions will be seeking an urgent update to their plans.

I hope this assists.

Kindest Regards,

Subject: [BCMA] Emergency Preparedness Resources

Hi everyone,

We had a bit of a Forest Fire scare yesterday and we're still on high alert as the fire is only 6 kms from our Museum. We've been working on an emergency plan but haven't gotten too far into it yet. I am wondering if anyone has any checklists or resources we can borrow to help us be as prepared as possible.

Also if anybody knows of any emergency preparedness workshops, grants, etc, please let me know. We've attended the BC HERN Emergency Salvage workshop, and we're ready for the aftermath of the worst case scenario.

Thank you!
