Administrative Assistant


Level - Permanent, Full Time

Wage - $18.00-20.00 Hr.

Summary:

The British Columbia Aviation Museum (BCAM) is a complex of buildings and artifacts located on the grounds of Victoria International Airport in North Saanich, British Columbia. The Museum is focused on preserving the history of aviation in Canada, most particularly in British Columbia. Museum activities include aircraft restoration to static or airworthy status, construction of engine displays, aircraft modeling, artefact maintenance, archive maintenance (aviation books, pictures and videos), and creation of memorials to aviation and the people who made it happen. The museum provides guided tours for visitors.
This is a new position. Working under the supervision of the BCAM Secretary, the Administrative Assistant (AA) will perform a variety of general administrative and clerical services. The incumbent will be required to both take direction and work independently to support the completion of assigned goals and objectives This permanent full time position is for 35 hours a week, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with ½ hour unpaid lunch break, five days a week, with some evening and weekend work on an exception basis.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Post-secondary diploma or degree in administrative or related discipline, or equivalent experience. Previous museum or archives experience is an asset.

* Willing to take vulnerable individual security check

The position is ideal for a well-organized person who demonstrates initiative and enjoys meeting and working with people.
