Lattimer Gallery is hiring a Gallery Assistant!

Description:
Full-time Gallery Assistant position at Lattimer Gallery’s flagship location on West 2nd Ave in Vancouver, specializing in Northwest Coast Indigenous art and jewellery since 1986. The position will be centered around customer service, gallery upkeep/maintenance, packaging and shipping fine art, and helping the public. We are looking for a self-motivated, intuitive, and outgoing individual, who works well in a team-oriented environment. This position takes instruction from the Gallery Manager. Tasks will include but may not be limited to:

-Packaging a variety of sculpture, jewellery, and prints for shipping
-Creating shipping documents/fulfilling online orders
-Cleaning tasks and general gallery maintenance (i.e. vacuuming, dusting, polishing jewellery)
-Helping walk-ins with questions and purchases
-Processing credit card payments
-Pricing inventory for stock
-Creating display tags for artworks
-Arranging gallery displays
-Fielding emails and phone calls from the public
-Re-stocking materials and giftware in the gallery from the stock room

Qualifications:
-General interest in Northwest Coast Indigenous Art and Artists
-2 years of customer service and/or retail experience
-Available to work weekends
-Experience working in art gallery is an asset
-Ability to multi-task in a dynamic gallery environment
-Excellent organizational skills
-Exceptional interpersonal skills
-Legible handwriting 
-Okay standing for several hours in a day
-Ability to lift 25lb
-Comfortable interacting with, and educating the public on culturally sensitive issues while maintaining a high level of professionialism
-Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
-Administrative experience is an asset
-Familiarity with Northwest Coast Indigenous Art and history is an asset
-Operates through a lens of decolonization, and anti-racism

Compensation:
$18-$20/hr based on experience
