[BCMA] PDF vs. PDF/A?

Hello,
We're in the process of digitizing a portion of the Sechelt Community Archives<https://archives.sechelt.ca/>.
For anyone who has digitized archival documents in your collections, could you please let me know if you created PDFs or PDF/As<https://askanydifference.com/difference-between-pdf-a-and-pdf/>?
This is something new for me (I only just learned that there was such a thing as a PDF/A)
Any advice would be welcomed!
